PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mail server system capable of always holding a load low, and realizing a high speed operation in a stable state. SOLUTION: This mail server system is provided with an index server (3b) and a data base server (3c). When character string search or sort is requested to the mail server system, a character string search function is realized by the index server (3b), and a sort function is realized by the data base server (3c). The mail server system functions as an IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) mail server system, the index server (3b) displaces the character string search function of the IMAP mail server system, and the data base server (3c) displaces the sort function of the IMAP mail server system in a request item 1.
