PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element containing a light emitting material and a host material and exhibiting excellent light emission efficiency and durability. SOLUTION: A plurality of organic layers including a light emitting layer is arranged between a pair of electrodes arranged on a base board, and the light emitting layer contains at least one kind of compound shown by general formula A and a compound shown by general formula O. In general formula A, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>and R<SP>5</SP>are each a hydrogen atom or a substituent; X is an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, or N-RY<SP>1</SP>, while RY<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom or a substituent; L is a binding group constructed of a conjugated bond; R<SP>x</SP>and R<SP>y</SP>are each a hydrogen atom or a substituent, and at least one of them is an electron attracting group.
