PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic meter reading radio apparatus which enables a user to easily identify a defect in the initial register of installation and to enhance efficiency in a work, as an automatic meter reading radio apparatus for automatic meter reading by radio wave and to provide an automatic meter reading system. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes an ID data deciding part 68 for deciding whether a meter management ID obtained from a meter 7 is data within a regulation or not and a registered slave set number deciding part 58 for deciding whether the number of registered slave sets in the master set can be registered within an upper limit or not. When an abnormality is determined in each deciding part, display is performed by an error pattern corresponding to each main cause. Thus, efficiency is enhanced in an initial register work and also reliability is improved in an operation in the installation work. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
