<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detection device capable of detecting highly accurately both a static body and a moving body from an image imaged from an object moving by itself. <P>SOLUTION: This object detection device acquires an optical flow in a local region in an input image by applying a Gabor filter to two or more input images continuous in time, images by an imaging means such as a CCD camera loaded on the moving body. Then, processing for excluding more strictly flow information generated by the motion of the moving body is performed by predicting an optical flow from a background image. Namely, a region (part of 'background') where the object does not exist is clarified from the input image, and the part of the 'background' is excluded, and resultantly a region (part of 'picture') where the object probably exists in the input image is extracted, and existence of the object is determined by using the flow information of the extracted 'picture' part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
