<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiving device which can select information matching a viewing place. <P>SOLUTION: When the digital broadcast receiving device 30 is installed in, for example, a kitchen, a user displays an installation place setting picture on a monitor 16a by using a remote control transmitter 10 and selects 'kitchen'. After a choice like this is made, installation place information is stored in a nonvolatile memory 14.
