LOCATION DETECTION/MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USING PORTABLE TERMINAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect/manage the location of a vehicle by a GPS reception function and to obtain various kinds of information such as map information from the center as well to be used together by connecting an adaptor having the GPS reception function to a portable terminal and performing communication by Internet mail or a packet interface between the portable terminal and a center.

SOLUTION: In the location detection/management system for detecting and managing the location of the portable terminal by the communication between the center and the portable terminal connected to the adaptor having a location detecting function, an interface between the portable terminal and the adaptor is turned to a general purpose interface (B) independent of an air interface (A) between the portable terminal and the center and protocol conversion of the air interface (A) and the general purpose interface (B) is performed in the portable terminal.
