<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To photograph a subject at a desired timing in a digital camera and a photographing system capable of making a communication with external apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: When a shutter button is half-depressed (#7), it is discriminated whether flash charge is necessary or not (#9) after the subject luminance is detected and an exposure control value is set to focus a lens unit (#8). When flash charge is necessary (YES in #9), it is discriminated whether the photographing system is communicating with a hard disk device 3 or not (#10), and it is discriminated whether the communication processing is transmission processing or not (#11) when it is communicating with the hard disk device (YES in #10). when the communication processing is transmission processing (YES in #11), a communication interrupt signal is transmitted to the hard disk device (#12) to interrupt the transmission (#13).
