PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely generate various picture reference signals about various kinds of pictures handled in various video signal processing systems. SOLUTION: A switch 60 is driven by a switching signal (pg-mix) and performs switching between a test picture pattern generated by a test picture pattern generation part 70 and a video signal from an A/D conversion part 31 in the input stage of camera signal processing DSP 30. The signal pg-mix is used to display the test picture pattern of an arbitrary size in an arbitrary place on a display screen 50, The test picture pattern in a semitransparent state can be superposed on the video signal by finely switching the signal pg-mix.
