PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To notify an arrival, a reception or the like of a mail in a state in which a transmitter and a receiver desires are reflected. SOLUTION: A method for processing a notification comprises the step of storing in a storage unit when notifying condition such as contents of a contents transmitter, a destination of the contents and notifying condition of the notification generated in relation to the contents are received; the step of recording a using state of a system in the storage unit; the step of detecting occurrence of a specific event; and the notification state deciding step of deciding the notification state regarding at least a notifying destination, and a notifying time based on user's notifying desired conditions of the destination of the contents relating to at least the notifying conditions and the specific event if the occurrence of the specific event is detected. Thus, the notification of the specific event is conducted in the notifying state along the contents transmitter and the user's desire. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
