PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supervisory method and a supervisory system for performing end-to-end remote supervisory independent of the line configuration of a line provider for providing a line by inserting an idle pattern into main signal data as supervisory information for remote supervisory concerning the state of starting/stopping a counter transmitter and the state of starting/stopping a network, as a remote supervisory system for the transmitter to be used for the high-speed digital line. SOLUTION: In the remote supervisory system for performing the remote supervisory from one transmitter to the other transmitter in a transmission system for exchanging data between the transmitters via the high-speed digital line, the side of transmitting is provided with an idle pattern inserting means 5 for inserting the supervisory information for remote supervisory into the main signal data and the side of receiving is provided with an idle pattern detecting means 6 for detecting the idle pattern inserted on the side of transmitting.
