PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-heterodyne down converter circuit with a simple circuit composition and proper characteristics, provided to a receiver which receives a high-frequency signal and a local oscillation signal transmitted by radio. SOLUTION: A heterojunction bipolar transferred electron device (HBTED) 17 for generating an intermediate frequency signal (IF signal) in a frequency band which is lower than the high-frequency signal (RF signal) from signals, based on the high-frequency signal received and the local oscillation signal (LO signal) received is provided. This HBTED 17 operates in a oscillator-mixer mode or an amplifier-mixer mode according to a bias condition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
