The method involves calculating an inverse of a transfer function of a transmission medium and optional deliberate terminal distortion based on an arbitrary data sequence and a data sequence as received from a terminal. A signal with a secret data sequence multiplied with the inverse of the transfer function is transmitted to the terminal over the medium to compensate for the medium and the terminal distortion. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a system for transmitting secret data in a communication network.
