<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize recording power for an optical disk device to which data are to be recorded. <P>SOLUTION: Test data are recorded onto an optical disk 10 while recording power is varied to various levels. Resolution for every recording power is measured by a resolution measuring circuit 28 and supplied to a controller 30. The controller 30 extracts a maximum value from obtained resolutions and a threshold is computed by multiplying a coefficient k (where k<1) to the extracted maximum value. The controller 30 computes lower limit recording power and upper limit recording power from which the thresholds are obtained and optimum recording power is computed by lower limit recording power+(upper limit recording power - lower limit recording power)×α (where α>0.5). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
