PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect the copyright of contents by preventing duplication by disk copying. SOLUTION: An area AR2 is provided which is subjected to error correction coding with a CIRC (cross interleaved reed-Solomon code) 7 method while data are subjected to error correction coding for recording with a CIRC4 method. In the area AR2, a hidden key KH is recorded in the form in which the both CIRC4 method and the CIRC7 method can decode the data. Prescribed data is repeated with a C1 sequence as a unit. If the hidden key KH is located, key information is obtained from the data in the form in which the both CIRC4 method and the CIRC7 method can decode the data to reproduce contents data. If a decoding circuit of the CIRC4 method that is normally used decodes the contents data to copy the contents data on a disk, an incorrectable error occurs in the area in which error correction coding is performed with the CIRC7 method, the disk copying is therefore impossible.
