PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elongate the service life of a dry cell by properly controlling the electric current of a light emitting element in a keyboard for a remote controller. SOLUTION: This remote control device comprises the remote controller IC 1a, the keyboard 2 having a keyboard for the remote controller, a resisting element connected to an REM terminal outputting a code signal for remote controlling from the remote controller IC 1a at its one end, a drive transistor 4 of which a base is connected to the other end of the resisting element 3 to ground an emitter, an infrared ray LED 5 connected to a collector of the drive resistor 4 at its one end, a variable resistor 6 connected between the other end of the infrared ray LED 5 and a power source potential VDD, and a battery 7 for giving the power source potential VDD.
