A method for producing a protective device with transferable, transparent security film (2) comprising a support (1) printed with transparent varnish (2a) which can be transferred from (1) to an object to be protected (4), in which (1) is printed with layer(s) of aqueous varnish solution which harden(s) to form varnish layer(s) with exclusively saturated covalent carbon-carbon bonds. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a protective device with transferable security film (2) as described above; (b) transparent security film (2) as above containing a photoluminescent pigment with absorption in the short-wavelength UV range, i.e. below 300 nm; (c) a method for protecting documents (4) from external assault, especially attempted falsification, using the above film (2); and (d) documents (4) coated at least partly with (2).
