<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical repeater/amplifier which is suitable for an optical fiber communication network changing the wavelength in incoming and outgoing with one optical fiber and performing bidirectional transmission and also to provide a wavelength multiplexer. <P>SOLUTION: An incoming light signal and an outgoing light signal are separated by wavelength routing through the use of three-port devices 1, 2, 5 and 6 and taken out. Then they are multiplexed in wavelength and collectively amplified by an optical amplifier 3.
