PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a three-phase AC-DC converter, wherein it is difficult to reduce the dimensions thereof. SOLUTION: A primary winding N<SB>1</SB>of a transformer 2 is connected between a neutral point of a Y-connection circuit of first, second, and third bidirectional switches Q<SB>1</SB>, Q<SB>2</SB>, and Q<SB>3</SB>, connected to three-phase AC input terminals 1a, 1b, and 1c, and the neutral points of a Y-connection circuit of first, second, and third capacitors C<SB>1</SB>, C<SB>2</SB>, and C<SB>3</SB>, also connected to the three-phase AC input terminals 1a, 1b, and 1c. The ONs/OFFs of the first, second, and third bidirectional switches Q<SB>1</SB>, Q<SB>2</SB>, and Q<SB>3</SB>are successively controlled. A rectifying/ smoothing circuit 3 is connected to a secondary winding N<SB>2</SB>of the transformer 2. Soft switching capacitors Cq<SB>1</SB>, Cq<SB>2</SB>, and Cq<SB>3</SB>are connected in parallel with the first, second, and third bidirectional switches Q<SB>1</SB>, Q<SB>2</SB>, and Q<SB>3</SB>respectively, and further, a regeneration circuit 9 for the energies thereof is provided.
