PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-luminance and long-life organic electroluminescent element containing a phosphor host compound and capable of improving light emission luminance and realizing low driving voltage and to provide a low- power consumption and high-luminance display device using the organic electroluminescent element. SOLUTION: In this organic electroluminescent element having a light emission layer containing the host compound and the phosphor compound, the host compound contains olefine as an a partial structure inside a molecule.
