PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology for generating proper profiles for both a display device and a printer at a low cost. SOLUTION: The profile generation system 1 has a display mode where generation of a profile for a display device 4 is objective and a printer mode where a profile for a printer 5 is an objective as profile generation modes and can select either of them. In the display mode, a digital camera 2 photographs an image of the display device 4 displaying a prescribed reference image and a computer 3 generates the profile on the basis of the photographed image. On the other hand, in the printer mode, the printer 5 prints out a prescribed reference image, the digital camera 2 photographs print contents and the computer 3 generates the profile based on the photographed image. Thus, the system 1 can generate both the profiles for the display device 4 and the printer 5 at a low cost. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
