<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sufficiently thin cold cathode display device provided with a gate electrode and having a high relative position precision, and a method for easily manufacturing the cold cathode display device. <P>SOLUTION: By superposing a back face board 18 on a front face board 16 and fixing for manufacturing an FED10, a sheet member 42 provided with plural thick film conductive layers on the surface of a dielectric layer 40 is fixed to the back face board 18 through a spherical spacer 46, so that a gate electrode 34 is provided between an emitter 38 and a positive electrode 24. The sheet member 42 is provided with the thick film conductive layer to compose the gate electrode 34 on the surface of the dielectric layer 40, and it has high mechanical characteristics based on the dielectric layer 40. Its film thickness and the film thickness of the thick film conductive layer in turn can be thinned while achieving a sufficiently high mechanical strength. Compared to devices in which the gate electrode 34 is composed of a thin metal plate, it is hardly damaged, thereby it can be formed thinner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
