The window lifter has a controller with an input for an ignition lock signal and at least one further input, with which an additional signal can be received, based on which the controller adopts a sleep mode. The additional controller input is connected to a vehicle occupant sensor. This can be a weight sensor integrated into a vehicle seat. An Independent claim is also included for a method of controlling the window lifter.
