The invention relates to the production of polymeric biodegradable adsorbents for cleaning water and soil from petrol and petroleum products. The inventive method for producing a sorbent consists in mixing the emulsions of carbamide-formaldehyde resin with a surface active substance and an acidic-type hardening catalyst, foaming, forming and hardening. The tanning bark extract of coniferous trees and carbon oxidising microorganisms are introduced during the mixing. The inventive device for producing a sorbent comprises series arranged foaming and hardening chambers, provided with a package of calibrating grids and a socket for introducing initial reagents, said chambers being separated by a set of calibrating grids. Said device is also provided with a pipeline for supplying gas to the foaming chamber. Said foaming chamber is provided with a discharge conduit which connects the chamber to the gas supplying pipeline and supplies initial reagents to the sockets. The package of calibrating grids in the foaming chamber is provided with a diffusing reflector, the socket for supplying a reagent inside the hardening chamber being provided with a perforation embodied along the hardening flow of mixed reagents. Said invention makes it possible to produce a highly porous biodegradable sorbent having a high oil capacity.
