The invention concerns a novel method for preparing high-porosity materials, and in particular high-porosity silicas. The invention also concerns the high-porosity materials obtained by said method, wherein the internal volume of the pores represent in general at least 80 % of the material total volume, which have a general specific BET surface area not less than 800 m2/cm3 of the material, and which have pores of dimensions ranging between 2 and 20 nm, associated with pores of dimensions ranging between 50 and 250 nm. The invention also concerns the use of said materials, in particular as reinforcing materials, absorbent materials or insulating materials.
