The method of cleaning of motor vehicle panels (10) uses a cleaning head (14) mounted on a manipulator for relative movement to the panel. The positioning control (16) has a rough positioning system (20) and a fine positioning system (22) with the latter for power guidance of the head. The fine positioning control limits the pressure of the cleaning head on the panel. The fine control adjustment has a defined tolerance range. Claims include a cleaner using the method.
