A rack (1) or switching cubicle has a rear side (3) that can be opened. A cable entry (4) is designed between the rear side and the rack. The rear side is removable. The cable entry is opened by the removal of the rear side. The cable entry is designed as a gap running round between the back side and rack. Those places of the gap running round which are not needed for the cable entry are closed off with a grille. The rear side is designed as a door which can be unhinged. The spacing of the rear side from the rack, and the depth of the whole rack including the rear side is adjustable.
