The present invention relates to a red−emitting phosphor powder for fluorescent lamp or screen. The phosphor is a solid solution comprising following components in mole fraction: compound A: 0.6−3, MoO<sb>3</sb>: 1, Eu<sb>2</sb>O<sb>3</sb>: 0.001−0.2, wherein compound A may be an oxide or fluoride with cation Mg<sp>2+</sp>, Ca<sp>2+</sp>, Sr<sp>2+</sp>, Ba<sp>2+</sp> or Cd<sp>2+</sp>, or the mixture of two or more compounds thereof. When it is a mixture, the cations are substituted in equivalent weight while the total amount of the mole fraction remains the same. Without using rare−earth compound(s) as a base material, the present invention can be carried out with simplified process at low cost, obtaining fine luminance and color purity.
