FIELD: machine tool building; cutting of heat resistant alloys. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method thermal emf is measured at chosen section of cut at constant length of cutting for all speeds, ratio of change of thermal is determined as minimum of dE/dl ratio. To determined conditions of nonstationary cutting, using obtained results size of contact pattern on front and rear surfaces of cutter are calculated by given formulas and then optimum value of acceleration of main motion drive av and speed of change of tool feed as at nonstationary cutting for extreme case h3<=h3cs depending on size of contact pattern, width of cutting, initial temperature, cutting forces, speed, feed and current time are found.
