摘要 An optical assembly measures the size, size distribution and concentration of particles in a dispersion. The assembly has a light source and a probe window with a high refractive index focusing the laser light beam. The window is a spherical lens, flat lens, bi-convex lens, rod lens, bi-convex cylindrical lens or gradient index lens. Preferred Features: The light is focused through a window with one face in contact with a fluid. The focal point is close to the window phase boundary. The instrument further has a detector measuring scattered light and its conversion into signals in proportion to the quantity of light scattered. The assembly further has a housing between the sensor window, lens, detector and/or light source, and a signal processing unit which evaluates the time profile of particle signals received. During the measuring process the focal point is moved along the optical axis, varying the distance between the light beam focal point and the window. The sensor window is one of two focusing lenses.
