<p>A method and apparatus is disclosed for compressing the data of an image. The method comprises the step of detecting critical points of an image which may be a maximum, a minimum or a saddle point. A detection of contour edges of the image is also performed. The coding of the data of the image is then performed using the detected edges and the critical points.</p> |
