An infinitely variable transmission with a compact layout and improved transfer efficiency has coaxial input and output shafts and a variable belt drive with crossed belts. The drive is positioned inside a planetary transmission and includes a switching clutch. The planet cage of the transmission serves as the flywheel of the whole system. To extend the effectiveness of the transmission it is coupled to two gear stages.
