<p>A display apparatus having an electrode (12), an electrode (16), and a liquid crystal layer (18) formed between the electrode (12) and the electrode (16) and changing a display state according to a voltage impressed between the electrode (12) and the electrode (16). This apparatus also has a piezoelectric device (24) for generating a drive voltage signal rapidly increasing up to a predetermined voltage value and thereafter gradually attenuating and a phase difference generating circuit (26) for outputting a first voltage signal and a second voltage signal having a phase difference from the first voltage signal from the drive voltage signal generated by the piezoelectric device (24). The first voltage signal and the second voltage signal are impressed on the electrode (12) and the electrode (16), respectively. Thus, the arrangement state of chiral nematic liquid crystals is changed with no need of an expensive power source.</p> |
