An apparatus for mixing a powdered or granular solid (13) with a liquid (32) comprises a solid feed device (14); liquid feed devices (37, 38, 40); an acceleration chamber (42), in which the liquid added is set in rotation and accelerated to a predetermined speed; a solid feed chamber (16), in which the solid particles added are set in rotation; a mixing chamber (76) for mixing the solid particles with the liquid to form a suspension while maintaining the rotational movement produced; and a compression chamber (78), in which the rotating suspension is accelerated in such a way that a suction effect is produced in an inlet region (82) of the compression chamber to deaerate the solid introduced. An Independent claim is also included for a process for mixing a powdered or granular solid with a liquid. Preferred Features: The solid feed device comprises an impulse conveying unit for introducing the solid and sealing the solid feed chamber. The liquid feed devices comprises an inlet nozzle which is arranged in the acceleration chamber tangential to the flow direction of the liquid, and a unit for placing the liquid to be introduced under pressure.
