<p>The invention relates to an enzyme and processes for producing an enzyme capable of cleaving β-1,4-xylosidic bonds of xylan. The enzyme comprises a xylanase which has been modified by having an uncharged or positively-charged molecule linked to a side chain of an amino acid of the xylanase and/or to a carboxy-terminal amino acid of the xylanase. The enzyme functions at an elevated temperature and/or has an extended half-life compared to the corresponding unmodified xylanase.</p> |
