The production of fireproof rigid polyurethane foam by reacting polyisocyanates with polyols in presence of water and/or other blowing agents involves adding flour and/or starch in combination with acid-forming fire retardant(s) to the reaction mixture, the flour/starch being used in a pumpable form obtained by mixing with a liquid fire retardant and/or polyol. Independent claims are also included for (1) a method for the production of starch suspensions in a form which can be metered by pumping for use in fireproof rigid polyurethane foam, by mixing flour and/or starch with a liquid fire retardant and/or a polyol (2) fireproof rigid polyurethane foam obtained by this method.
