The hardtop for a convertible is made up of two sections (2, 3). The first section is attached by pivots (13) to the tops of main connecting arms (10) which are attached by pivots (12) at their lower ends to the car bodywork. The rear section is attached by pivots (15) on its front edge to the rear edge of the front roof section. Smaller connecting arms (11) link its rear edge to the pivots on the bodywork and it is attached by pivots (17) to piston-and-cylinder units (5) pivoted on the bodywork.
