The device has an access side controller (1) with code and key memories (3,4) and a comparator arrangement. The controller interrupts a learning process while training a new key (8), updates a memory (4) value and polls a previously trained key in order to allocate the updated stored value to its key memory (6) and finally completes the training of the new key.
