PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a higher function when many displays are connected and used than in the case when a single display is used. SOLUTION: Master equipment 1 and slave equipment 2<SB>ij</SB>which are television receivers detect another television receiver being connected. The master equipment 1 and slave equipment 2<SB>ij</SB>carry out authentication with the television receiver whose connection is detected. When the authentication with the connected television receiver is successful, the master equipment 1 and slave equipment 2<SB>ij</SB>change its function.
