PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mulching material and a method of setting up using the same which prevents growth of weeds from ground surfaces and growth of weeds by seeds come flying without affecting growth of vegetated plants. SOLUTION: This mulching material comprises at least one species selected from plant fibers, wood chips, craft paper, organic fibers and inorganic fibers as a principal raw material and is added with a water soluble aluminum salt except aluminum phosphates or an aqueous solution of the aluminum salt. As the water soluble aluminum salt, at least one species selected from aluminum chloride, aluminum sulfate, sodium aluminate and aluminum lactate is preferably used. The water soluble aluminum salt or the aqueous solution of the same can be added in a process for forming the mulching material or after setting up the mulching material. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
