PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pivoting device to allow two components to be pivoted to each other in which an automatic releasing mechanism is installed and which is formed from a smallest possible number of component parts to suppress the cost. SOLUTION: The pivoting device P includes a first 10 and a second shaft 12 which are set so that they can make relative rotating motions round a common rotational axis and are arranged displaceable from each other between the first and second displacement positions along the rotational axis. Between the first and second shafts, a restraining means (10e and 28) capable of being released are installed so as to restrain the relative rotating motions of the two shafts, and the restraining means restrains the relative rotating motions of the two shafts in the first displacement position and is released so as to admit their relative motions in the second position. Between the two shafts a compression spring 14 is installed so as to generate relative rotating motions between the two shafts when the restraining means is released. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
