PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain variation of valve timing caused by rigidity shortage of hydraulic pressure. SOLUTION: A reverse input torque cutoff mechanism 6 is provided on a valve timing varying device to vary the valve timing of an engine by adjusting a rotating phase difference between a housing 8 and a rotor 9. The reverse input torque cutoff mechanism 6 is furnished with an outer peripheral member 21, an inner peripheral member 23 and a roller 28 arranged in a clearance between the outer peripheral member 21 and the inner peripheral member 23. Variation of the rotating phase difference is prevented by regulating relative rotation of the outer peripheral member 21 and the inner peripheral member 23 by biting of the roller into the clearance against reverse input torque.
