PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent irregular deposit and abrasion damages attributable to a support roll in a bath, any warp in the width direction of a metal strip at a gas wiping unit, and dross defects on the metal strip. SOLUTION: A hot-dip coated metal strip manufacturing method comprises a drawing step of drawing the metal strip into a plating metal in a hot-dip bath to deposit the molten metal on the metal strip, a pulling-up step in which the inside of the hot-dip bath is divided into upper and lower areas by a surrounding member formed so as to surround the metal strip drawn into the hot-dip bath with the molten metal in a flowing condition, the metal strip is direction-changed by a direction-changing roll, and pulled up outside the hot-dip bath without being brought into contact with the roll in the hot-dip bath after the direction is changed, an adjusting step of adjusting the deposit of the molten metal by a wiper to wipe excessive molten metal deposited on the metal strip, and a shape straightening step of straightening the shape of the metal strip by the magnetic force in a non-contact manner immediately before or behind the wiper.
