Catalyst for reducing the content of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in emission gases from lean-burn engines comprises: (i) platinum group metal(s); (ii) storage material(s) comprising a NOx storage component, on at least one carrier, in combination with (iii) a homogeneous mixed oxide of magnesium and aluminum oxides, with magnesium oxide (MgO) content 1-40 wt.%.
