<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium, which is suitable for high speed recording and excellent in heat stability. <P>SOLUTION: This optical recording medium is equipped with a recording layer 14 made of a phase changing film. The recording layer 14 has the property of changing an amorphous region to a crystalline region 22 through the generation of a plurality of crystal nuclei 21 in the amorphous region and their growth when the amorphous region is heated up beyond its crystallization temperature. As a result, even when a slight crystallization advances in the amorphous region comprising a recording mark through the long term leaving of the optical recording medium under the high temperature environment, the deterioration of a jitter is effectively suppressed due to no occurrence of the substantial deformation of the outer shape of the amorphous region. In addition, since the erasion of the recording mark is done through the growth of the crystal nuclei, the employment of shorter recording marks is especially suitable for the optical recording medium for recording information at a high data transferring rate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
