A hydraulically operated mine door (1), including two movable door leafs (5, 7), is operated by hydraulic fluid under pressure. The fluid is pressurised by a pump (29, fig 2) which is driven by an air motor (35, fig 2) and the air motor (35, fig 2) is in turn powered with compressed air from a compressed air system (39, fig 2) present in the mine. The invention is said to be an improvement over conventionally operated mine doors as the lack of an electrical system reduces the risk of explosion. |
