PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase an operation margin by suppressing interference between adjacent cells. SOLUTION: A plasma display panel has insulating substrates 1a and 1b arranged opposite each other. On the insulating substrate 1a, scanning electrodes 9 and maintaining electrodes 10 are provided. On the insulating substrate 1b, data electrodes are arranged. The scanning electrodes 9 and maintaining electrodes 10 are each composed of a bus electrode 3 and a main discharge electrode 2. Each main discharge electrode 2 has a discharge-space side wide part between the scanning electrode 9 and maintaining electrode 10 and a non- discharge-space side narrow part between scanning electrodes or maintaining electrodes. Discharge is caused large at the electrode part of the narrow part. Consequently, an area where discharge expands at a border part for an adjacent cell can be limited. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
