PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine for transmitting power to a crankshaft, a clutch, a cam type torque damper, a main shaft, and a countershaft in this order capable of shortening the whole length in the axial direction of the internal combustion engine, in particular, enhancing the loading property on a vehicle when the crankshaft is loaded on a motorcycle toward forward and backward directions of the vehicle, and shortening a wheel base of the vehicle. SOLUTION: A length of the cam type torque damper is shortened, and the main shaft and the cam type torque damper are arranged under the crankshaft and inside a crankcase. Each shaft of a transmission device is stored in the crankcase to shorten the whole length in the axial direction of the internal combustion engine in order to enhance the loading property on the vehicle.
