PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air gap type etalon filter capable of being made inexpensive while maintaining high temperature stability, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: MR materials 5a and 5b where a reflection film (MR coat) and an antireflection film (AR coat) are respectively created are manufactured on a plane through which an optical signal of a transparent substrate (glass plate, etc.), worked into prescribed dimensions transmit. Two planes with reflection films of the MR materials 5a and 5b created thereon are made parallelly opposite from each other, gap materials 6a and 6b are joined with a prescribed gap interposed from the side faces of the MR materials 5a and 5b, and the two MR materials and the gap materials 6a and 6b are fixed.
