PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic transmission type diffraction grating which has high diffraction efficiency and can be easily. manufactured, and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: This plastic transmission type diffraction grating has a plurality of refractive index-changed parts whose refractive indexes are changed inside a plastic structure. The plurality of refractive index-changed parts are parallel to each other, or the interval between adjacent refractive index-changed parts changes from one side toward the other side. The refractive index-changed parts may be formed by emitting laser whose pulse width is≤10-12second to the plastic structure. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
