PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the molecular weight of a polymer containing an alicyclic structure superior in accuracy in repeated measurement, and a method for manufacturing the polymer containing an alicyclic structure with few molecular weight variations between lots by utilizing such a molecular weight measuring method. SOLUTION: In the method for measuring the molecular weight to the polymer containing the alicyclic structure by liquid chromatography, the concentration of a sample to be injected is 0.05-2 wt.%, its amount is 5-100μL, the capacity of a sampling loop is 10-200μL, and the ratio of the capacity of the sampling loop to the amount of the sample to be injected is 1-10. In the method for measuring the molecular weight of the polymer containing the alicyclic structure by liquid chromatography, a column of an overall length of 50 cm or more is used as a column for analysis, and a column packing of the column is a porous gel of a particle diameter of 4μm or less.
